You Can Find a Clinical Trial with the Help of ALK Positive
At any juncture in treatment, those with ALK Positive cancers are faced with hard choices. Whether you are first starting treatment or you are changing treatment due to progression or side effects, multiple options may be available. At these critical decision points, a clinical trial could be an excellent choice. You may trust your doctor to refer you to a clinical trial, but it is nearly impossible for any doctor to be aware of all the clinical trials that are available for ALK. It may be necessary for you to take matters into your own hands and find a clinical trial that is a good fit for you. If you are interested in a trial, you can bring it to the attention of your doctor and/or contact the trial coordinator yourself.
The ALK Positive organization works to empower patients to make decisions with their doctors. To advance this idea of shared decision making, ALK Positive has developed a spreadsheet that lists all of the clinical trials we can find for those with ALK cancers. The list of trials is updated each month using information from ClincalTrials.gov.
The ALK Positive Clinical Trial Spreadsheet is categorized by:
1) Trials looking specifically for those with ALK Positive lung cancer, by stage in treatment.
2) Trials looking for all types of lung cancer, but ALK may be included.
3) Trials for other types of ALK cancers.
4) Additional tabs for trials sorted by different regions of the world.
You are encouraged to visit this list of trials at the ALK Positive Clinical Trials Spreadsheet*. It is available in the ALK Positive Facebook support group under “Files”. You can also find it on ALKPositive.org under the “Research” menu.

As of March 2023, there are at least 50 clinical trials that are recruiting specifically for people with ALK-positive lung cancer. Many of these trials have multiple sites worldwide.
*The ALK Positive Clinical Trials Spreadsheet was developed by the ALK Positive Medical Committee. The database is updated monthly. Disclaimer: these trials have been consolidated by volunteers and should not be considered exhaustive. Listing of these trials is not an endorsement, and ALK Positive does not recommend one trial over another. Please talk with your doctor about these or any trials you are interested in.
